Australia

For Australian visa purposes, visa applicants must attain the required score for each of the four components of the OET Test. Unlike other tests the Department of Home Affairs has approved for visas, visa applicants can provide OET Test results achieved in more than one test sitting.
For example, visa applicants can combine OET Test results from both a full test and one, two or three sub-tests to achieve the required scores. Scores across multiple test sittings can be submitted as long as the first full test was completed within three years of submitting a valid visa application.

The following nurse licensing jurisdictions accept OET results through:
1. A direct application to the state nursing board (with a report from any board approved credentialing service):
- Arkansas – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue (if using CGFNS credentialing services, please send OET results to CGFNS)
- Colorado – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue (if using CGFNS credentialing services, please send OET results to CGFNS)
- D.C. – all test types
- Florida – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue
- Kentucky – all test types
- Massachusetts – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue
- Michigan – all test types
- Nebraska – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue
- North Dakota – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue
- Oregon – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue
- South Carolina – all test types
- Vermont – OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue
- Washington – all test types
2. CGFNS International as part of your CES (Credentials Evaluation Service) or CP (Certification Program) application:
- Arkansas (see above - several credentialing agencies are approved. If using CGFNS services, English results should be submitted to CGFNS)
- Colorado (see above - several credentialing agencies are approved. If using CGFNS services, English results should be submitted to CGFNS)

3. CGFNS International with your VisaScreen certificate. OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue are accepted for the VisaScreen certificate - OET on paper and OET on computer at a venue are accepted for the VisaScreen certificate:
- Alaska – VisaScreen certificate is accepted as alternative means of demonstrating English proficiency.
- Arizona– VisaScreen certificate is accepted as alternative means of demonstrating English proficiency.
For these states, you would:
- Apply to a different state or territory with an initial license application.
- Receive authorization to sit the NCLEX test. Pass NCLEX but do not request the state license to be issued.
- Transfer your NCLEX pass score and use OET results to apply for a VisaScreen certificate.
- When issued, use the VisaScreen certificate to apply for the state license in Alaska and Arizona.
The following US states/territories may not require proof of English language proficiency for nurse licensure*:
- American Samoa
- Guam
- Montana
- New York
- North Mariana Islands
- US Virgin Islands
*Candidates applying to these jurisdictions will still require proof of English language proficiency for healthcare worker certification for immigration applications. OET is accepted for all healthcare worker certification.
The following US states/territories may provide an exemption to candidates who took their nursing education with English as the language of instruction**:
- Maine
- New Mexico
- Pennsylvania
- Texas
- Utah
- Virginia
- Wisconsin
